Why does Westie Films shoot so much in black and white?
For our budgets and resources, black and white looks better and more distinct than what we could achieve in color. Unless you have the funding for both proper equipment and post-production color correction, color is going to look garish on a lo-fi (or no-fi) project.
Black and white films, embrace the lo-fi ethos, by taking a step towards influences such as the rock xerox flyer, or the proud tradition of photocopy art. We only use color when we are willing to be over the top with the contrast and adjustment of it. Other than that, black and white is at the core of the Westie Films aesthetic.
